Miami Art Community Outreach is ...

A non-profit organization aimed at enriching every person's inner artist and building self confidence. This organization was developed by Our Lady of Lourdes Academy students, Leah Bohatch and Claudia Pichardo. They started this project in the summer before sophomore year of  high school to bring the community of Miami together to help the less fortunate through art. This project is designed to involve local artists and students of the community. For example, talented local artists will be invited to instruct an art class and students can get involved by working at our monthly bake sales, projects, or  by becoming a member of the Art Club. Through monthly art therapy activities, children and adults, can experience the joy of art. The activities include holiday themed art projects, hosted by Leah Bohatch and Claudia Pichardo, and painting classes instructed by local artists. 

 

The majority of these activities have taken place at Lotus House Shelter located in Miami. The Shelter houses homeless women and children. Through activities with the children of the shelter, and upcoming activities with the women, their lives have been enriched with the joy of art.
